The Ukrainian religious culture and its wooden churches tradition is an outstanding European phenomenon formed on complex intercultural ground; placed between eastern (Orthodox) and western (Catholic) Christian branches, Ukrainian culture has assimilated both characters; by examining the whole Ukrainian wooden religious heritage, it is possible to recognise several influences from Scandinavian, Hungarian, Carpatian, Polish, Russian and Valachian tradition; therefore. For this reason, the full involvement of Ukrainian partners should enrich the content of the project as well as to open to new possibilities for scientific and cultural advancements; moreover, considering that a great part of this cultural heritage needs to be protected and restored, the involvement of an Ukrainian University with a sound experience in the wooden conservation as Kharkov State Technical University, has represented a valid and testing ground of application for the scientific knowledges of the EU Co-organisers, as well as an occasion to promote the development of relationships of co-operation among those experts involved in the project and their universities as well.
